Living Area
The open
sided living area is located on the ground floor of the main house. Cooled
by natural breezes and pendulous ceiling fans, it lends itself to be an
ideal entertainment environment, incorporating a modern open plan kitchen
and boasting wonderful views of the terraced gardens. This large airy
space is furnished with a solid dining table for eight, created from a
single piece of wood, and ideal for dinner parties. There is also a
comfortable sofa and two chairs, a coffee table, a funky lantern, and
local artefacts and artwork. A staircase leads up to a splendid mezzanine
with a recycled teakwood floor and a balcony walkway lined with four
statuesque urns. A guest washroom, with toilet and washbasin, is located
on ground level to one side of the living area. |
Kitchen
The well equipped open plan kitchen features glass
fronted wall units and a black marble serving counter. It is here that the
staff will prepare and serve delicious meals.
Bedrooms 1 &
2
Two air-conditioned bedrooms are positioned on the ground floor
of the main house. Mirror versions of each other, each is accessed by
antique doors and each features a warm wooden floor and latticed sliding
doors that are reminiscent of the shoji screens of traditional Japanese
architecture; when opened the pool deck and garden appears and the
interior becomes one with nature. Each bedroom is furnished with a custom
made king size bed and a desk, and each has a walk in wardrobe with
cupboards, hanging space and a large mirror. Each en-suite bathroom
features a tiled floor, and open air area surrounded by a wall with an
indoor-outdoor rainshower, unpolished marble walls, a glass washbasin, a
toilet, and a large terrazzo bathtub for soaking up those romantic
relaxing interludes.
Cinema Room
The air-conditioned
cinema room is located at the top of the stairs, to one side of the
mezzanine, and accessed by a set of double doors. The room, complete with
its soaring roof, is furnished with comfortable cushioned sofas and
ottomans, a coffee table and a desk in one corner, it features built-in
glass shelving and a floor created from recycled antique timber. This
state-of-the-art home theatre boasts a huge wall mounted cinema screen,
supported by a hi-tech surround sound and music system, and a projector
for showing movies and DVDs, in addition to satellite TV channels.
Bar & Pool Table
At the far end of the mezzanine,
overlooking the Zen bamboo garden is a semi open-air area with a teakwood
bar, together with heavy solid wood bar stools, corner seating and a pool
table. To one side is a guest washroom with toilet and washbasin.
Pool House
The pool house rests in an elevated position
within the garden. It is accessed by five steps, and characterised by
antique teakwood walls and a shingle roof. This enchanting little house is
flanked by a raised timber deck, complete with an outdoor bar, a quality
sound system, a barbeque area and an outdoor dining table and chairs.
Gorgeous antique doors open to reveal a spacious air-conditioned bedroom
with an antique teakwood floor, on which rests a custom made king size
teak bed, innovative bedside lamps, a large dressing table and a wardrobe
under the high, timber-lined roof. Local hand-woven ikat bed linens
complete the picture of rustic charm. The semi open air en-suite bathroom
features glass shelving, a glass washbasin, rainshower and toilet.
Bungalow
A two storey building at the far end of the
garden houses two further air-conditioned bedrooms. The downstairs lagoon
bedroom with ensuite overlooks the waterfall and enjoys the tranquillity
of the sound of running water. Warm hardwood Mabao floors and beautiful
tropical flower paintings help complete the feeling of Zen.
Upstairs is a fully restored teak bungalow accessed by an external
flight of stone steps. With a polished concrete floor, pitched roof and
white washed timber walls, this delightful bedroom has the feel of a
wooden chalet. It is attractively furnished with a king size bed, bedside
lamps, table, chair, and a wardrobe. Sliding doors lead on to an ironwood
deck complete with a hammock and table for two. Raised high above the
garden, the bedroom and deck affords stunning views all over the estate
and the surrounding rice fields, and the breezy deck is a particularly
delightful place to relax. The en-suite bathroom has a rainshower, a
washbasin on a carved washstand, and a toilet. It features unpolished
marble brick walls, and skylights in the roof, which let in plenty of
natural light.
Swimming Pool & Gardens
The enticing
18-metre swimming pool is positioned in front of the main house and is
ideal for swimming laps. It utilises an advanced salt water filtration
system that is soft on the earth and gentle on the skin. It also
incorporates a circular champagne plug pool, adding to the delight of
tropical living. For those who enjoy lazing beside the pool, the ironwood
pool deck is furnished with traditional sunbeds, in addition to two
romantic half moon canopied day beds that offer a shaded option. The
expansive terraced gardens are characterised by flat terraced lawns,
punctuated by beautiful mature trees. In the far corner is a lagoon ablaze
with purple flowering water hyacinths and a waterfall that delivers the
tranquillity of a tropical oasis. Set back from the swimming pool is a
relaxation pavilion with floor cushions, a low table and a beaded lamp.
Location
The Alir is located just five minutes' drive
from the rugged Berawa Beach - renowned for its world-class surf breaks
and legendary sunsets - and fifteen minutes' drive from the trendy
Seminyak area, with its wide choice of internationally acclaimed
restaurants, chic cocktail bars, exciting nightclubs, lavish spas and
elegant boutiques. Just around the corner from the villa is The Canggu
Club; Bali's first and only international private members' club; For horse
lovers, the Umalas Equestrian Centre is very close by; and Nirwana Golf
Course - designed by Greg Norman and renowned as one of the best golf
courses in Asia - is a twenty-minute drive. The villa is thirty minutes'
from the international airport, and convenient for all of the island's
main shopping malls and tourist attractions, including Tanah Lot, Bali's
most venerated sea temple. |
